This is a Lionel 9218 Monon Operating Boxcar from 1981. This car is a remake of the postwar Lionel 3494-550 of 1957. To operate this car, you park it over a standard uncoupler which draws down the operating plunger to open the door and the man throws out the mailbag! This boxcar features sliding doors, diecast metal sprung trucks, diecast metal operating knuckle couplers, metal wheels and axles.
